 Synopsis of ICN2010 
The Seventh International Congress of Neuroendocrinology (ICN2010) was held at the Law Faculty in downtown Rouen, July 11-15, 2010. A total of 870 individuals representing 60 countries registered for the congress and 532 abstracts were accepted for oral or poster presentations. These abstracts have been published in a book printed by the Presse des Universités de Rouen et du Havre (PURH). Participation of students and fellows was facilitated by the award of 48 Young Investigators Travel Grants. ICN2010 comprised a Lay-Public lecture given by Jacques Balthazart (Liège, Belgium), 9 Plenary Lectures including the Opening Lecture given by Roger Guillemin (San Diego, California), the Geoffrey Harris Lecture given by Iain J. Clarke (Clayton, Australia), the Mortyn Jones Lecture given by John F. Morris (Oxford, UK), the Jacques Benoit Lecture given by Nabil G. Seidah (Montreal, Canada) and the Claude Kordon Lecture given by Alain Enjalbert (Marseille, France), 16 Symposia each with 4 speakers (64 State-of-the-Art lectures), 27 oral communications including those presented during the SNE-Servier Prize session, and two poster sessions. Five Satellite Symposia were organized before or after ICN2010: “The 6th International melanocortin meeting” by Roger Adan and Roger Cone, Utrecht, The Netherlands, July 8-11, 2010 ; “Plasticity of neuroendocrine systems” by Isabelle Franceschini and Yves Tillet, Tours, France, July 9-10, 2010 ; “Progress in cellular imaging for neuroscience research” by David Vaudry, Ludovic Galas and Darek Gorecki, Mont-Saint-Aignan, France, July 9-10 ; “Neuroendocrine effects of endocrine disrupters” by Olivier Kah and Vance Trudeau, Rouen, France, July 10, 2010 ; and “Neuroendocrine programming of obesity” by Sébastien Bouret and Richard Simerly, Rouen, France, July 15-16, 2010. The proceedings of the ICN2010, i.e. about 70 review articles, will be published in the Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, Hormones and Behavior, Journal of Neuroendocrinology, Neuroendocrinology, and Stress. The social program included a Get-together party, a Wine-and-cheese party during one of the poster sessions, a Concert in the Cathedral of Rouen, an excursion on the Alabaster Coast or on the Route des Abbayes, a Banquet in the Abbatiale Saint-Ouen, a guided visit of the exhibition “une Ville pour l’Impressionnisme: Monet, Pissaro et Gauguin à Rouen” at the Fine Art Museum, a guided tour of Rouen, a lights-and-show at the Fine Art Museum every night, and a visit of Monet’s Gardens in Giverny.
